What is her worth as a broodmare?

Postby PAbred » Mon May 08, 2006 1:26 pm

I am considering selling this mare and need some suggestions on an appropriate asking price.

Her name is Oldies But Goodies and is in the system.

She is a 5 yo 16 hand bay SABINO mare. She has three white socks ,a big blaze and white hairs in her tail. She is sound and a lovely mover who is built like a tank(very broad chested and lots of bone).

She only had two starts-no wins. She trained great and showed alot of speed but just didn't perform well at the races!

She had her first foal last month and is a wonderful mom. She was bred to a plain chestnut stallion(son of Unbridled) and gave birth to a bay SABINO filly with LOTS of chrome(2 high hind stockings,a HUGE blaze and white hairs in her tail. The filly is very correct and VERY fast already!

This mare is sound enough to do anything and will produce foals that carry the Sabino gene!

Any opinions on her pedigree are welcomed.

I will be selling her as soon as the filly is weaned or if someone is interested in breeding her now we could work out an arrangement

Thanks!

There is a bay mare in the query, by Quary. Is this your mare? She is very closely bred in Nijinsky. Just wondering if I got the right mare...

http://www.canterusa.org/pennsylvania/horses/index.htm

here is a website that lists OTTBs for sale in Pennsylvania. Prices range from a 1k to about 2K with some selling for higher depending on things like color, conformation, pedigree, sound for disciplines, quick sale etc.

you should be able to look at a few horses compare pedigrees and come up with an asking price.

Nice pedigree but I had to go back five generations to find any winnings in the tail femail line and that was only $2730. And to top that off Quarry was a low winning stallion.

However, if you want to take a long shot consider an A.P. Indy stallion. Indy Mood and Valid Indy should be in the right price range. If you like the PABRED program you might consider the WVBRED stallion Valid Indy. You'd have three up close crosses to Bold Ruler onto a line-bred Northern Dancer mare and the nick might just produce something.

Don't know how helpful this is . . .

Since the grand-dam on the top-side & the grand-sire on the bottom side are full siblings, I can't figure out if on the general market, that's a huge plus or a huge minus. Depends on who is looking at her pedigree as a broodmare, I guess, and how much they like the parents of those siblings.

Sorry to be vague. I kind of like their parents but just can't decide whether I'd take a chance on this particular breeding, anyway.
