Suggestions on 2 mares to be bred to whom?

Postby Key To The Hills Farm » Fri Nov 05, 2004 8:43 am

I have 2 mares we would like to send to KY to breed. Fiesta Mia by Festive Lad out of Pension Prospect and Red White and Fast by Bail Jumper out of Synonyma. The foals will be TX bred so we are looking at all sprinter sires. We are looking in and around a $5,000 stud fee. We have had luck with our Dayjur foals down here. I just wanted to see what others thought?
Thanks a bunch,
Kelly

Hi kelly, I lived in San Antonio in the late 70's and remember Azigazi. I tried buying an Azi colt from the Kohls' named The Pearl Ace, but Col Russell beat me to him. Dr Mays was always very generous with his time and knowledge, and Susan ( I believe) was also very nice. Back then there was nothing between San Anotnio and Boerne. I have to imagine the city is right on your doorstep now! :D

Well it's nice to know it is a small world after all. You better bet that our new neighbors include some goverment offices and a huge car wash! People can't wait to get there hands on this property they won't succeed! Susan left a few years ago and opened a flooring shop that is doing pretty good. I am Doctor Mays's step-daughter and have just taken over the responsibility for about six months now. Doc is really a great guy that would help everyone if he could! Thanks for your nice letter.
Sincerely,
Kelly

Hey, don't know if anything's come of it but I've touted Aggie Southpaw to Texas breeders many times on this forum (the old PQ forum). I'm outside Austin, and one of these days I'd like to get down to actually see him so I'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about...!

As for your two mares, "Shop Texas." Saddle up Red White and Fast and lope her over to Littleexpectations. Bailjumper loves Iron Ruler on the bottom - no reason why he wouldn't appreciate him on top, too. Besides that, if LittleE is only half as good as his older brother Valid E, then he'll be good enough. He might be okay for your other mare too, but I'll take a closer look.
