there is a lot of knowledge on this forum so i'm going to throw my mare, IDGY THREADGOOD, out for feedback on her pedigree and suggestions for bloodlines in the mid-atlantic area. she did not race due to injury, she's about 15.2 and built like a tank. very athletic, correct, well balanced, a bit of a head case. thanks.

Consider Bop for your mare. He stands in West Virginia for an advertised fee of $2500. Bop was fairly durable - winning 12 of 23 starts, and fast - setting three course records at 5f.

Some of the more immediate key features in Bop's pedigree that complement Idgy's pedigree include the presence of two lines of Almahmoud 5 x 5 through daughters Cosmah and Natalma, two lines of Native Dancer through Raise A Native and Natalma, a line of Aspidistra through Dr. Fager, and Iltis, the fourth dam of Bop.

Idgy is inbred to Grey Flight 3 x 4 through the half brothers What A Pleasure and Misty Flight. The double of Almahmoud and Grey Flight represents a lot of "girl power" in the hypo-foal's pedigree -- and Almahmoud and Grey Flight are seen together in the pedigrees of many stakes winners, including 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam.

Oftentimes too, matching horses that are inbred through different strains can have positive outcomes. In this case, however, there's the added advantage of linebreeding to La Chica 4x (through half sisters Miyako and Planetoid) - La Chica is the third dam of Native Dancer and the second dam of Grey Flight.

Dr. Fager is the half brother to Champion sprinter Ta Wee, the dam of your mare's sire Entropy. If we can trust the validity of Michael Ventura's scoring system of specific crosses, Doc and his half sis have combined favorably to earn a whopping 2.43 Ventura Geo Score.

This mating also has the added advantage of bringing Blushing Groom into the mix who has combined exceptionally well with Ta Wee (Housebuster), and Dr. Fager (Candy Ride), and Ta Wee's sire Intentionally (Ghostzapper). Bop's third dam is Treasure Chest, the full sister to My Dear Girl. When Intentionally was bred to My Dear Girl in 1963, she foaled In Reality the following spring.

Your mare is rather light on the bottom side, while Bop's quite strong through his important "heartline" positions. He carries the breed shaping families of Cequillo (16-a, i.e., Plucky Liege), Almahmoud (2-d) and We Hail (21-a).

A filly from this mating would set up quite well for future matings if you chose to retain and breed her. And you'll probably want to do that after she wins the Breeders' Cup Sprint for you....

Her name is Charmander. We're looking at 75k and less in Kentucky. Possibly ship her to Florida to foal. It would be a sales foal, but a real nice filly may be retained.

Following is a link to a site that probably explains the Ventura scoring system (I've never been to the site). Michael Ventura developed the system, and he's a regular contributor to this forum under the name "llbean." I know he's made many posts here about his system, but I came up empty when I searched.
