Beware of a stallion that has only been bred to a few mares and his offspring starts winning.

These stallions are few and far between. GC is for real and will vindicate his fellow TB breeders who pick up the ball and send their mares to his court.

What a fascinating pedigree Forceful Jab has :o ! 4x2 Rajab and by a son of In Excess. Gibson County's first dam comes from a potent nicking between the mare Rajab's Treasure and the stallion Winrightt. Check out the progeny list  . I saw her (Miss Gibson County),GC's dam, as a yearling, and she was a knockout 8) ! She sold for $31,000 and I was an underbidder for her (way under  !) I believe she became Florida-bred filly of the year on her way to $500K+ in earnings.

I'm wondering if he already has reservations and a room in KY for next year, trying to find info. on him on the net is uh, difficult. I forget did he retire late and that is the reason they didn't put him up. Hard to get mares if nobody knows you are available! :D

The plan is for him to stay in Florida, at least as of today. It is going to take more money than is on the table right now for him to move to KY.

Actually, the story of Gibson County is really a funny one. He shipped to us a couple of years ago from California from his owner. We needed to find a home for him, but we really didnt know what to do with him. We were originally going to make a roping horse out of him, but he wasnt really cut out for that. So Luke had a few mares he had open, so he took him over to his farm and bred a few mares. Our maintenance man bred a few mares, and thus became this years first crop. Our maintenance man owns Forceful Jab. So now the would-be roping horse is now a hot property, and a decision just hasnt been made yet what to do with him. The partnership is definitely leaning towards leaving him in Florida, but its early yet.

Thats what I love about this business. The horse that comes out of right field and blows them away. It's amazing it still happens with the millions some throw around. Congrats on the success.

That's a neat story! It seems that he would have deserved a shot at stud considering some of the other stallions that go to stud every year! I'm glad he got it! Amazing though, what if he had been gelded? :D
