Trempolino as a Broodie Sire? Potential crosses?

Postby austique » Mon Jul 03, 2006 6:08 pm

Anybody have a line on him as a broodmare sire? His numbers look fairly good and he got Action This Day (okay he was a dubious champion).

Say one picked one up, would you go strictly turf given that this hypothetical mare had never been bred to a turf sire?

Agustine: The data base is not bringing up Trempolino. Post the 1st and 2nd. dams of the same APR. Thanks.

Greek Sun, Tertullian, Grazalema, Terek, T E Lawrence, Orcadian, Rapscallion, Shadow of Illinois (do you pronounce the s or dont cha?) are some other winners.

Okay Round Pond brings up a really good point as she is a dirt horse.

Katdogawn is like one of my all time favorite horse names

I do not pronounce the "s" in Illinois

My issue with this hypothetical mare is she was bred to some stallions that didn't make a whole lot of sense early on and got winners and now she's got 3 young foals (2yo thru suckling) all by predominately dirt sires. The best horses in the female family were turfy. It seems like a waste. Katdogawn is by a son of Woodman. May be thats a route to go since the old man is negotiable?

The APR for the 1st 2 dams is middle of the road, and their daughters didnt burn many bridges.

The best Trempolino can offer is an outcross pedigree for those 8-12 crosses of Phalaris that we are seeing today.
