That's some horse. And a Dynaformer too. He passes Lonesome Glory as the leading steeplechase earner in the United States. He also won the BC Steeplechase for the 4th straight time.

The McDynamo--Hirapour rivalry is one for the ages.

Does anyone know if Kinross was running a horse in the race?

Yaay McDynamo

I think Hirapour actually scratched from this race so the rivalry wasn't renewed this time.

I've loved steeplechasing ever since I was a wee girl in Scotland. I first learned of Dynaformer through reading about McDynamo. Then I learned all about his other runners Perfect Drift, Film Maker, Mystery Giver etc. All running on into later years at high levels. So when Barbaro broke his leg in the Preakness I was astonished because I had come to believe that Dynaformers could run on asphalt and stay sound.

Of course as I read more I realised that they are all horses and of course prone to injury, but they are brave. I just saw a replay of Mystery Giver's second race back after injuring himself and being off for almost two years. A starter allowance/optional claiming over 1 1/4 miles on the turf. He dawdled along in last for most of the race then went from last to first going right around the outside on the final turn and trounced them all by 3 1/2 lengths. I swear (even on the tiny screen image) I've rarely seen a horse really romp in a race and enjoy himself the way Mystery Giver seemed to be doing.

And McDynamo 24 lengths. :!: :!: in the Breeders Cup. :!: :!:

These are the kinds of horses we need in the breed.

I love Robertos. Lear Fan, Dynaformer, Red Ransom, Silver Hawk, and ?? all have done well as sires. (Can't think of #5 off the top of my head.)

The sort of races we mostly have in America today don't play to this line's strong points, but I have hopes that they will excel on polytrack. They already excel as chasers. :)
