Am I missing anyone from this list...

Postby adrienne » Fri Nov 10, 2006 6:29 pm

My boss asked me to put together a list of stallions... and I came up with a list with the following criteria:

1) In Kentucky
2) Between $5-15k
3) Median covering sire sales price showing reasonable profit (this excluded horses like Pure Prize, Runaway Groom :( )
4) Not an ungodly amount of RNAs or mares selling below stud fee (this excluded horses like Bowman's Band, Whywhywhy)

This is my list:

Include - Airdie - $12,500
Victory Gallop - Winstar - $10,000
Marquetry - Stonewall Farm Stallions - $7,500
Van Nistelrooy - Ashford Stud - $7,500
Birdstone - Gainesway - $10,000
Cat Thief - Overbrood - $10,000
Sky Classic - Pin Oak - $12,500
Wando - Lane's End - $10,000 (no sales results, but I want to see him anyway, lol)
Alphabet Soup - Adena Springs - $15,000 (how do you think his new lower fee will effect his covering sire price?, proportionally?)
Horse Chestnut - Claiborne - $10,000
Monarchos - Claiborne - $15,000
Holy Bull - Darley - $15,000
Candy Ride - Hill N Dale - $12,500
Johar - Mill Ridge - $15,000
Belong to Me - Lane's End - $12,500

Who am I missing? Would you exclude anyone from this list? I know my boss will go through it and cross out half, lol

Just my opinion but I would look at the stallions standing at Millennium Farms.

Northern Afleet will be standing 2007 for $15,000 after serving 160 mares in 2005 and 106 mares this year in his first two years at stud in Kentucky. He might be one to include on the list with "bullets in the chamber".

I think Include's 2007 fee is a lot higher than $15,000

I agree; I'd also look at some Hopewell Farm stallions or Castleton Lyons or at Buck Pond.

You're right. I was half using webpages and half using the Blood Horse stallion register, the register is obviously not up-to-date and I didn't check the Airdrie website. Booo... really liked him too, but I don't think we're shelling out $25k for anything :)
