What do y'all think of the value of the mare and what she went for? I was looking at her picture on this article and the hind end was bugging me. Was it just a bad shot to gauge that from or am I not looking at her the right way?

Her "value" is that she is the dam of Speciosa, in foal for a full sibling to Speciosa. Sometimes mares will "outthrow" their own conformation and throw to their pedigree. Perhaps that is what this mare does.
Certainly, Speciosa looks NOTHING like his dam.

Thanks for the comments Madelyn. Glad to know that she brought that because of what I thought and not because she was some seriously gorgeous specimen. I just couldn't see it.
What do you think that says about colts that don't look much like their dams? I mean in terms of their own offspring's conformation. It just seems funny that a mare could turn up with less than stellar physique but have good genes and her son would pass on nothing but good conformation himself. Surely there's a genetic chink in the armor right? Are there enough good points to offset that then?

Well in this case, the genetic code she is passing seems to be for good conformation, or she has genetics so recessive she may be the equivalent of an equine photocopier, and throws the sire instead of herself. Since that is the code those horses have, you could probably anticipate that their offspring will be nice.

I get emails from Tatts during the sales and all the horses look like nothing special. I mean they are pretty and all, but they are just led around and not posed like Keeneland does.
Would be interesting to see how she would look in a Keeneland sale, much more regal I would suspect.
