Hip #'s: 559, 1352, 1717, and 2262. I scratched 1555 - she needs more time to fill out.

wow. hope you make some money on that bunch. for anyone wanting to avoid looking up--by friends lake, birdstone, scrimshaw. dams by unbridled song, honor grades, boston harbor and seattle slew. all Ky breds. i overlooked paying attention to black type but all the dams are winners, one or two siginificant winners. nice second dams. warrendale sales agent.


i like each stallion conformationally and breeding. good judgment on the stallions imo. these sorts of horses are out of my league so i just speculate on my limited info which about consists of following the yearling sales closely this year.

i was stunned at the money at the Nov. sales. Although they had exceptional catologue imo, i'd wonder how much $ is left. ive been in the jan sale a few years back. bad weather=bad news then. i think ur sitting in the catbird's seat with a bunch like this.

i always wonder if the sales money is real money or just exchanges. ive had a friend whose put some nice horses in the sales with pope mclean and he never gets near value.

Thanks! I think they are nice looking babies as well (you can see two of the colts under the "foals" - they're pics are posted a couple of times. They of course are a little bigger now. We're keeping our fingers crossed but know that January selling short yearlings is a crap-shoot - but one we're going to take this year.

I'm probably too honest (or so I've been told when it comes to horse business - question that but who knows I'm pretty much an open book) - so if they tank I'll let you know - if they do well - you'll hear me shouting from Keeneland

One of the bigger hurdles already overcome... book placement. Kitty did a pretty good job for you in getting decent slots... although she may have preferred to have one or two a little earlier. Kitty is solid and as good as any in getting the right money on your horse, if the horse warrants it. Additionally, she is also a little more honest than many.

I think you may do well with the earliest ones, provided all pieces (x-rays, scopes, etc) are right. The latter ones may need to be "right" and standouts... this sale can be tough near the end, however it should not drop as much as the November sale did.

One advantage... if you don't get what you like, you can always wheel em back in the fall. Good luck!

Oops... having actually looked them up, I see only the first two are with Kitty... and she really did a good job with placement. It looks like 1717 might be the better Birdstone and, based purely on what I know of the two pedigrees, could be the better individual. I thought the Tapit could have been placed a day sooner... but, doesn't matter now.

I'll stick with you doing well with the Friends Lake, if all things are okay. The latter ones could struggle... but as long as you have the option of pushing them with the idea of potentially keeping them for fall, things might work out. Weanlings can change so quickly, they can be fine one week and ugly the next... makes it doubly hard to predict what any particular one may bring.

As has been the trend, indicators seem to be positive for the upper tier critters while the lower end could be very difficult. Market will probably continue trend of being quite fair for quality, in-foal, mares, however older and barren mares will probably find tough sledding.

Since it appears I'll be there all week - I too hope the weather is nice! Probably won't be as lucky as we've had the past week here! I too wasn't real happy with some of the days on the other foals but you get what you get! Kitty did a great job in getting the days for the first two foals!

If we aren't happy with the price we can always bring 'em back home. I just hated having them lost in the masses in November and although they have a higher average in November there were alot of "outs" and RNA's on those foals - and not being "top sires" I'm not going to get in the first week of November anyhow

The Tapit filly is really nice - she just needs to fill out a little more. Her dam seems to throw that in her babes - little late bloomers. She's a beaut though.

Hip 1717 (Anna K./Birdstone) is gorgeous and it is really too bad their personality don't "shine" during the sale because he has one! He is always stirring up trouble, getting into everyone's face and attacking everyone in the field!

The Scrimshaw colt was pure stud here all the time. It was suggested that we geld him (HA). Thought that might hurt his sale chances.....

Now it time to sit back and wait .....

I'll let you know how they do - and if you plan on being there - go take a look at them - would love to know everyone's thoughts.

Does your Scrimshaw colt look like his sire? We have an 06 Scrimshaw colt too and I just love him--he's gorgeous--looks just like his daddy. I'll be out at the sale next week, i'll stop by to see him. Funny! our colt is a stud muffin too.

Olga George - he does look like his daddy - only lots prettier (ha). He is really nice and I was disappointed in his day - but this being the first foal by this mare, based on Scrimshaw's stud fee and the January sale - what can I expect day-wise? Hopefully someone else will love him too!

Maybe Scrimshaw throws major studs huh? The Birdstone colt wasn't quite so studly as the Scrimshaw - geez he was mounting everything and "hung" 24/7. He also liked to try and lay down when the farrier worked on him but he finally stopped that little trick.

Cruddy day today! Rained all day and was cold. Doesn't appear to be any better weather coming this week. Hopefully that won't keep folks from coming out to look and buy!

I spoke to one of the farm managers today and they were swamped on their stallion showings from people in for the sale. (no pun intended) Good luck on your baby.

Rained all day on Sunday when we went and looked at stallions. Saw some very lovely boys - including AP Warrior, Value Plus, Bluegrass Cat, Bernardini, Henny Hughes, Sir Shackleton, Toccet and Rockport Harbor.

At least the sun came out today.

Point Ashley brought 1.8 million but don't know if she sold or was an RNA - she looked quite lovely up there.
